Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

This is designed to provide participants with necessary skills and knowledge to carry out emergency life savings procedures in the first few minutes following a life threatening incident.

HLTFA201B Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
Workplace Level 1

This unit deals with the provision of emergency life support in recognising and responding to an emergency using basic life support measures. The first aider provides an initial response to a situation where first aid may be required but is not expected to deal with complex casualties or incidents.

HLTFA301C Apply First Aid
Workplace Level 2

This is a short course designed to develop the knowledge and skills to provide basic first aid and manage the casualty(s) and the incident.

This unit specifies the outcomes required to provide first aid in a range of settings to manage the incident and response, and communicate with others involved in the treatment or response.

This unit covers the application of skills and knowledge in an emergency in the workplace or home where first aid treatment options are applied. It is about assessing the situation, providing first aid to the casualty, coordinating first aid until arrival of medical assistance, communicating details of the incident to others involved in treatment, and evaluating the incident after the event to learn from the situation activities.

Time allocation: approx 12 - 14 hours

HLTFA402C Apply Advanced First Aid
Workplace Level 3

You will be able to provide advanced first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders as well as support to other providers. Competency includes Advanced Resuscitation techniques, AED, oxygen administration, and anaphylaxis management.

This will provide training in the recognition and emergency management of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis. This training includes risk minimisation and the use and administration of an auto injection device.

Automated External Defibrillation is a short course designed to develop skills and knowledge to provide automated external defibrillation until the arrival of medical assistance.

Course in Basic Oxygen Administration is a short course designed to develop skills and knowledge to provide oxygen resuscitation the provision of oxygen therapy and to support the casualty until the arrival of medical assistance.

21886VIC Course in Emergency Asthma Management

This course provides the knowledge and skills to enable people to identify asthma signs and symptoms and provide the emergency management for a person suffering from an asthma attack. Possession of a Statement of Attainment permits the holder to apply for a Bronchodilator Accreditation Number (BAN) to keep asthma medication in a first aid kit and administer the medication.
